The Pope had just finished a tour of the
East Coast and was taking a limousine to the airport. Having never
driven a limousine before, the Pope asked the chauffeur if he could
drive for while. The chauffeur agreed and got in the tinted window
passenger section. The Pope drove onto Highway 95 and decided to see
just what the limousine could do. Before he realized it, he had the car
going 90 miles an hour.
Suddenly he spotted blue flashing lights from a highway state
trooper's car in the rearview mirror. The Pope carefully pulled over to
the side of the road and a state trooper approached the car. When the
trooper approached the window of the limousine, he immediately
recognized the driver and said, "Just a minute, please. I need to call
in the department." The trooper called the department and told the
chief he had a REALLY important person pulled over and asked the chief
how he should handle it.
The chief asked, "Is it the mayor?"
To which the trooper replied, "No sir, this guy's more important than the mayor."
The chief then asked, "Is it the governor?"
Again the trooper said, "No sir, he's more important."
The chief tried again and asked, "Is it the president?"
The trooper replied, "No, sir, he's got to be even more important than the president."
Frustrated, the chief finally asked the trooper, "Well, who is it then?"
To which the trooper replied,"I don't know, sir, but he's so important that he has the Pope as his chauffeur!"
